Tom is a
Martindale-Hubbell AV rated attorney.
He practices in all areas of
civil litigation with a concentration on the defense of insurance
companies and their insureds, insurance coverage questions, and
appellate practice.
A large portion of Tom’s
practice is devoted to the defense of architects, engineers and
appraisers.
He has extensive trial and
appellate court experience and is an enthusiastic advocate of
alternative dispute resolution.
He is admitted to practice in
Idaho's state and federal courts as well as the Ninth Circuit Court
of Appeals.
Tom
grew up in Michigan, and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in
Natural Resources from the University of Michigan in 1973.
He spent his pre-law days in
government service with the National Park Service, the Bureau of
Land Management and the Peace Corps.
He received his J.D. degree from
the University of Idaho College of Law in 1986.
Tom began his legal career as a
law clerk to the Honorable Robert E. Bakes at the Idaho Supreme
Court.
He is a founding member and
chairperson of the Idaho State
Bar’s Lawyers Assistance Program.
Tom is an accomplished mountain
climber and the author of Idaho: A Climbing Guide, a hiking
and mountain climbing guidebook, and numerous articles on mountain
climbing and the outdoors.
